Home Healthcare: Medical Alert Consoles
Help is on the way for seniors in State College, PA
As a private home healthcare agency, we are always looking for ways to improve our services and enable older adults to live independently for as long as they wish. Through the many conversations we have had with older adults in State College, PA, we came to understand that the older adults we care for would benefit greatly from medical alert consoles, also known as Personal Emergency Response Systems (PERS), which is why we are proud to introduce them in State College, PA.
If you have never heard of medical alert consoles before, they are a new and revolutionary way to help older adults feel safe at all times, even when they are home alone. The medical alert consoles we offer, also referred simply to as PERS, are very small devices worn on the body by older adults and activated with the simple push of a button in case of emergencies. This means that if your loved one, for example, takes a fall in the bathroom and does not have their phone with them, all they have to do is press a button on their PERS bracelet or necklace and they will be connected directly to our SafetyChoice® Centralized Monitoring Station. You can probably see why this is an incredible addition to any home healthcare plan.
Once a PERS is triggered and your loved one put in direct contact with one of our representatives at the center, our professional representative will assess the situation and contact the appropriate responders right away. The responders summoned to help your loved one right away can be an emergency response team, but they can also be a neighbor or one of their children which lives in town.
The medical alert consoles are two-part devices. Like we already mentioned, there is a portable device worn by older adults as either a necklace or bracelet. But, there is also a stationary unit located somewhere within an older adult’s home that is connected directly to a landline or cell phone number.
If your loved one needs assistance, all they have to do is press the button on their bracelet or necklace and help will be on their way.
